How Long Does Depression Last?

How long does it take for depression to go away?

Remember, depression isn’t a mysterious condition that comes and goes for no reason at all. Instead, it’s a condition that comes and goes depending on how you’re thinking and living.

Therefore, the answer to how long it takes to stop being depressed is that it depends on:

  • How depressed you are to begin with
  • How quickly you change your thinking
  • What other things you’re doing to stop being depressed (like getting exercise, sunlight, and enough restful sleep each day)

How long can depression last if untreated?

How long does it take to get over depression if you don’t do anything to improve your situation?

If you’re simply playing the waiting game, and not doing anything to get rid of depression on purpose, like deliberately improving you’re thinking, then you’re hoping to accidentally stop being depressed one day.

For example, you’re hoping that one day your situation will change in a way that makes you happy, rather than depressed.

And this could happen. For example, you could meet someone special who inspires you to think more positively about yourself and your life, and in such a way, you could accidentally break free of depression and be happy.

But when you take this approach, how long depression lasts is simply a matter of luck. It could be days, months, or years. Or it could even last your entire life.

And why on earth would you leave depression up to chance, when you can be guaranteed to eliminate depression by improving your thinking and lifestyle?

How long does depression last for with treatment?

How long does it take to cure depression when you deliberately improve your thinking and lifestyle to stop being depressed?

When you take this approach, you eliminate the element of luck for getting rid of depression. In other words, it’s not a question of if you’ll stop being depressed, but a question of when.

The purpose of this course is to help you get rid of depression very quickly and easily, ideally in 7 days or less. If you are extremely depressed, it might take longer than this, but rest assured that you can definitely get rid of depression in 30 days or less, with enough improvement in thinking.

The idea, here, is that by learning exactly what to do to stop being depressed, including what types of changes in thinking to make, you’re developing the very valuable, life-changing skill of how to become and remain depression-free faster and easier.

So it’s not a question of if you will stop being depressed, but how quickly.

How long does depression usually last?

The overall lesson is that how long depression lasts depends on what you do. For this reason, do not give too much weight to any literature that tells you it will take a long time to stop being depressed, as if this is some sort of gospel truth.

For example, lots of literature will tell you that it can take 6 or 8 months to get out of an episode of major depression. But these numbers are completely irrelevant, because how long depression lasts depends completely on what you do.

To appreciate this, you could say that it took Fred 10 years to stop being depressed, because it took him 10 years to believe that he could eliminate depression, while it took Johnny only 1 day to stop being depressed, because it took him only 1 day to come to the same conclusion after taking Always Greater’s Depression-Free Course.

Similarly, you might say that it took Becky 1 month to stop being depressed, because she only focused on improving her thinking, while it took Joanna 5 days to stop being depressed, because she improved her thinking and got plenty of sunlight, exercise, omega 3, and restful sleep every day, as well as enjoyed socially interacting with other people.

How long will my depression last?

From now on, instead of asking questions like “How long does clinical depression last?”, as if it doesn’t matter what you do, start thinking about how fast you can stop being depressed with your particular approach to depression.

Indeed, the takeaway is that you can get rid of depression extremely fast, even if other people don’t, because it depends entirely on what you do.

And since you’re taking a course that teaches you step by step how to get rid of depression faster and easier, you can rest assured that you will get rid of depression much faster than most people.
