In this video you’re going to learn how appreciating the benefits of positive thinking makes it easier for you to think more positively and to enjoy those benefits.
As a teaching tool I’m using the Positive Thinking Tool. Now let’s get started.
First of all, if you want to think more positively, it’s really important that you understand the benefits of thinking more positively, because the entire point of positive thinking is to get the benefits. So if you don’t understand the benefits, there’s really no point in doing it.
The way you understand the benefits is really simple and really easy. You just ask yourself a basic question: what’s in it for me? What do I get out of thinking more positively?
For example, let’s say you want to think a more positive thought like “I can still achieve a lot of things with my life”. What’s in it for you? Why would you want to do this?
Well, if you think this way and you think that you can achieve a lot of things with your life, doesn’t that naturally make you way more confident by appreciating your capabilities and what you can do? And don’t you also have much higher self-esteem by appreciating yourself and your capabilities, and what you can achieve with your life?
And don’t you just feel much more energized thinking this way? Don’t you want to go out and achieve things just by thinking about all the things you can achieve?
And don’t you have much better peace of mind? Because if you’re thinking that you’re powerless or helpless to achieve anything, that’s really stressful, but if you think you can achieve things, you enjoy more confidence and also peace of mind.
And if you combine all this, you naturally are way happier, because you’re more confident in yourself, and you’re more energized.
And all of this together can improve your social interactions, because it’s really much easier to interact with other people when you’re in a better mood, and other people love being around you when you’re in a better mood, so it’s great for everyone.
Now, the beauty of appreciating all these benefits of thinking more positively is that it actually motivates your mind to think more positively. So you don’t have to remind yourself to think positive thoughts, and you never even have to force yourself.
It’s the exact opposite. You’re so excited and interested in thinking this way because you realize it will benefit you in so many ways.
To your brain, it’s like this… Your brain says: when I think this way, my life is better off this way, this way, this way, and this way, so this is how I want to think from this moment on. So it’s like you start thinking positively on automatic pilot really quickly and easily.
If you’re using the Positive Thinking Tool, it’s really simple. You just think about all the benefits of the thought, and put a check mark beside each way this will benefit you and make your life better. And then you can click “think this thought” to move on to the next step.
What I want to do here is to bring up one other thing that you can do to appreciate the benefits of positive thinking. And that’s to appreciate why your thought is such a positive thought worth thinking overall, and why it’s so valuable for you.
To understand this, you’ve got to appreciate that there are three characteristics of a positive thought.
The overall characteristic is that it’s useful and adds value to your life in some way. Very often, that value is helping you feel better, which is the second characteristic of a positive thought.
And the third characteristic is that a positive thought helps you achieve something you want. Very often, it helps you achieve feeling better.
In any case, if you just take a moment to appreciate: when I think a positive thought like “I can still achieve a lot of things with my life”, it helps me achieve something I want to achieve, because it helps me feel better emotionally, and all of this means it’s really useful and adds value to my life…
If you take a moment to appreciate all this, then you can actually see a lot value in this positive thought, and by doing that, look what happens!
You increase your mind’s motivation to think positively. So you’re going to start thinking positively on automatic pilot, just because your mind is just so energized and motivated to do so.
It’s like you’re giving your mind a lot of gas or fuel to think this way.
So, overall, what you’ve just learned is that by taking just a moment to appreciate the benefits of a positive thought, you make it extremely easy for yourself to think that way and to enjoy those benefits.
