Why Knowing The Effects Of Negative Thinking Helps You

Read the transcript for the video lesson Why Knowing the Effects of Negative Thinking Helps You

In this video you’re going to learn about the effects of negative thinking, and why your life is so much better without negative thoughts. As a teaching tool, I am using the Positive Thinking Tool. Now let’s get started.

The best way to understand the negative effects of negative thinking is to take a specific negative thought and to consider the effects of thinking that way. For example we have identified the negative thought “I have failed to achieve a lot of things”.

Now take just one second to appreciate the effects of dwelling on failure like this when you think this way.

You naturally have less self esteem, you have less self confidence in yourself, and having a lack of self-confidence makes you less successful. You naturally feel bad, down, and miserable, and being in bad spirits will hurt your social interactions and make it harder for you to be around people.

You also have a lot more stress and anxiety, and this kind of thinking can interfere with the quality of your sleep.

So even though this might seem like just a simple thought, by taking a moment to consider the effects of a negative thought like this, you can see how it really negatively affects your life in a lot of different ways.

The important thing is that you don’t get really stressed out about all these negative effects.

Instead, just appreciate that your life is better off without them, and take a positive approach and say: if I didn’t think this way, I’d be more calm and relaxed, be more upbeat and more self-confident, be more successful… I’d have better social interactions, be a happier person, and find it easier to think positively about things.

Just appreciate how your life will improve in each and every way as you get rid of this negative thought and its negative affects.

And by doing this, you’re already going to find it very easy to let go of this negative thought, because you see how your life is better in every way when you get rid of it.

Once you’ve appreciated the negative affects of negative thinking, you’re ready to move on. If you’re using the Positive Thinking Tool, click “get rid of this thought”, and I will look forward to seeing you in the next lesson.

Summary:

You just learned why knowing the effects of negative thinking helps you let go of negative thoughts faster and easier. Continue to the next lesson for more step by step instructions on improving your thinking.
